PRESENTS
05:59
October 17th - November 7th
Curated by Danielle Juliao & Martin Isaza
Concordia unites a diverse group of artists across various generations who currently live and work in Bogotá, Colombia. The lush landscape that surrounds them—characterized by hills, forest vegetation, wetlands, and meandering rivers—becomes the common denominator of the exhibition’s creative inquiry, centered around the contemplation of these geographical features and their constant temporal changes.
In the selected works, the artists reimagine the vision of the traditional landscape genre through synthesization of form, and delve into an interplay of color. Whether engaging with natural or constructed landscapes, 05:59 hints at those familiar transitions of light that occur during the passage of time. The contrast between yellow, symbolizing daylight, and blue, representing nightfall, emerges as a recurrent motif.
We invite viewers to consider new ways of conceiving, interpreting, and challenging the “pure landscape”. Blurring these conceptual boundaries becomes intriguing as the reunion of artworks confronts the reality of contemporary New York.
05:59 will remain on view until November 8th, 2024, with active programming throughout the show.
