About Alex de la torre

Alex De La Torre currently lives and works in Barranquilla. He graduated from Fine Arts from la Universidad Del Atlántico (2001). During his time there, he had the pleasure of assisting Colombian masters Manuel Bustos and Haime Alvarez Correa, helping him shape his own identity while being influenced by the latter.

Although his work is heavily figurative, he also gives importance to the materials he uses as canvases, creating a conversation between form, color, and emblematic Colombian motifs that are only recognizable by those who grew up in the country. He explores ecological activism in a few of his series while depicting more urban elements characteristic of the Caribbean coast.
